FastAPI is my default for new async APIs and model-serving endpoints — validation with Pydantic, background work with Celery, and webhooks that don't block the request thread. I've shipped FastAPI services for WhatsApp AI agents, document ingestion and LLM orchestration.
Problems I solve with this stack
Endpoints that call a model or an LLM take seconds and callers time out.
Move the slow work to Celery workers backed by Redis, return a 202 immediately, and make each task idempotent. This is the exact pattern I built for client WhatsApp AI agents at Shivohini TechAI.
The same webhook is processed twice because the provider retries it.
Store the provider's event ID with a unique constraint and ignore duplicates — a minimal FastAPI + Celery webhook receiver I've built more than once.
Requests and responses aren't validated, so bad data reaches the database.
Pydantic models at the boundary: strict request/response schemas, clear 422 errors, and no implicit parsing anywhere in the codebase.
